Jonah Toth

Community Engagement Catalyst

Jonah is a prairie boy through and through and was raised in the wide-open skies of the grasslands, golden wheat fields of family farms, and walking down small town main streets. He understands that in Saskatchewan, community isn’t just a word – it’s the way of life that built our province.

Jonah is an interdisciplinary thinker, with undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto involving courses in chemistry, global development, political science, and Indigenous justice. He went on to earn a Masters in Chemical Engineering from McGill University to gain an engineer’s perspective on problem-solving. While school took Jonah out of Saskatchewan, it only strengthened his commitment to community-building back home.

As the founder of passion2action Youth Empowerment, Jonah has built a platform to develop leadership skills and foster active citizenship in young people throughout the province. In eight years, the youth-led non-profit has engaged over 28,000 young people in over 50 communities throughout Saskatchewan. passion2action is a grassroots movement to encourage more young people to get involved in the community and grow the next generation of leaders for our province.

His work as the Community Engagement Catalyst with SUMAInvest is rooted in a belief that we are better when we work together and that ‘a rising tide floats all boats’. Jonah is driven to support the financial sustainability of Saskatchewan communities and brings an infectious passion and energy to his role as a community connector.
